A man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl
The Edo State High Court based in Auchi has sentenced a 20-year-old man, Ahmed Sufiyan, to 21 years in prison for sexually abusing and killing a 4-year-old girl.
The case was settled on April 21, 2019 at Egbetua Quarters in Ososo, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, under investigation.
As the judge ruled on two counts of indecency and murder,
Mr Philip Imoedemhe, said the evidence presented confirmed to the court that there was no doubt that the convicted person was guilty of the crime.
"The evidence before me shows that the accused is guilty as he has been charged and sentenced to 21 years in prison," he ordered.
Lauretta Asaka, the prosecutor, told the court that the case was a sentence under Section 401 of the Administration of Criminal Justice, Laws of Edo State 2016.
The deceased's uncle, Yakubu Tijani, said he was happy to find justice for the victim
Said Tijani. "am grateful for the victory of this case that we l have finally found justice today,"
Also, the Executive Director speaking, BraveHeart Initiative, Ms. Priscilla Usiobaifo, who welcomed the decision, said, "The sentencing reduced the three-year struggle for a girl who was severely beaten and killed."
