Limpopo state police recently arrested eight suspects who arrested a 37-year-old woman in the back of her car and dragged her a few kilometers, which led to her death in what is believed to be a riot in Salma, Limpopo Village.
The eight, aged between 18 and 38, were arrested during a search of the German detectives, the Vhembe team, the Tactical Response Team and Crime Intelligence on April 30, said Lieutenant-Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi.
The deceased was identified as Basani Portia Shuma, 37, who is believed to be a moneylender in the area.
The mob then pelted the police with stones while searching for the deceased
The mob tied the victim in his car and dragged him into the bush on April 11, Seabi said.
He was taken to Malamulele Hospital but died on arrival.
A mob also set fire to Shuma's house and damaged his Toyota, worth R200 000.
All eight suspects have been charged with murder, public violence, arson and malicious damage to property and are expected to appear in the Saselamani Magistrate's Court soon.
