Sad news: Three-storey building collapses in Lagos, killing eight, 23 rescuers
About 23 people, including children, were rescued alive.
The incident happened at Ebute-Meta on Sunday night at around 10.56.

Paramedics were alerted as some residents turned to help them by searching for debris to rescue trapped victims.
The occupants were reportedly in their separate apartments when the building suddenly collapsed and no one was able to lock up some of them.

The acting coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, recently confirmed the deaths of four people, adding that the collapsed building had been marked for demolition.
“Another three-storey building, located on Lagos Street, 200 meters from the scene, showed signs of concern by throwing stones and falling.
The building was reopened and residents were evacuated by police from Lagos State Buildings Control Agency, and they were marked as sad but those inside were distracted.

The secretary general, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanntolu, in a statement last Sunday, said some of the injured victims had been rushed to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment.
