The Notorious Controversial E-levy has been officially approved, which is exactly the birthday of the 78th Ghanaian president, but few disagree.
Following the passing of the E-levy, the juniors in parliament vowed to oppose the e-levy's passage in the Supreme Court.
At a press conference held on Tuesday, March 29-2022, Madangala Leader Haruna Iddrisu told the shocking news that the passage was unconstitutional.
He further added that, as Parliament did not have the required numbers to take an e-levy decision.
He said Parliament did not have the numbers to take any decision that we should commit to Parliament and the people of Ghana.
The majority of less than 137 business owners continue to run illegal and unconstitutional businesses.
He said, “I think they should review the E-levy approval because from today, I don't think they had the numbers for the E-levy approved.
He added,We are ready to challenge the decision in the Supreme Court.
According to the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Bagbin, he was surprised by the turnout but said it would not interfere with the proceedings.
He said the E-levy charge would apply to all electrical transactions in excess of GH ¢ 100 per day.
All proposed amendments standing on behalf of members of the National Assembly were withdrawn because they were not present to present the amendments on their behalf.
The E-levy, which was amended from 1.75 per cent to 1.5 per cent today, on Tuesday, March 29-2022, is an electronic transaction tax, which includes mobile payments and other Electronic transactions.
A few were unable to participate in E-levy analysis in the second and third phase of the study due to the boycott.
