Police station set fire to Imo with a shotgun, killing two police officers and one.
Gunmen stormed the station on Saturday morning at around 4.50am and the campaign lasted a few minutes.
A public source, Mr Okechukwu, said they heard massive explosions in a row.
"No one was killed here, we were afraid to leave our homes but we knew it was a bomb blast. Unfortunately they killed my brother Ifeanyi who was trying to protect the station and his people by extension."
According to showbreez.blogspot.com, security guards were heavily affected during the operation, which left cars and property destroyed.
Hundreds of people have already cordoned off the station to witness the incident this morning.
Imo State police spokesman Michael Abattam While confirming the attack confirmed no one was killed and no firefighter was shot.
"Yes, there was an incident, but our men chased them away, no one was killed and we did not lose a gun," they said.
The attack on the Umuguma Police Division in the Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, set the station on fire.
The Imo State Police Command's public relations officer Owerri, CSP Michael Abatham, said this on Saturday, in response to a gunshot wound.
He denied reports that two police officers were killed during the attack.
He said two civilians lost their lives during the attack and not the police as previously reported.
One of the staff members, Ifeanyi, originally from Mgumuma, is said to be doing his final year at imo state university.
A house located in the East Local Government Area of Imo State burned down on Saturday morning. Contacted by the social media officer, CSP Michael Abatham, he said he had received the information and started investigating the incident.
The incident happened on Saturday morning when gunmen stormed the branch headquarters and hurled explosives at the building. Meanwhile, the Presidency of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Igbos social and cultural organization, Professor George Obiozor, has been set on fire.
