A video broadcast online shows the bodies of some worshipers lying on the floor of a church in their pool of blood.

 A resident of Olabamiji in the area said the incident was carried out by gunmen, who had disguised themselves to join a church to worship during the morning Mass but later opened fire on worshipers.

 

According to reports, less than 40 worshipers, including children and women, have been feared dead as a result of the terrorist attacks.

Terrorists throw dynamite inside the church, he added

“We could not even count their numbers because everyone fled for safety. This is very unfortunate. The attackers fled immediately after they had finished and were not noticed. ”

“We saw them, they did not cover their faces. We initially thought that they would enter a church service without knowing that they were gunmen. Suddenly, we heard a commotion; point guns at anyone who sees them, especially women and children.

Another occupational health worker at the Federal Medical Center, Owo, where the injured were taken, said more than 51 people had been hospitalized, with many still dead and some still alive.

 “They are still bringing people to the hospital. Some were pronounced dead at the scene and others were still breathing. But for now, I can't specify the number of deaths, he said

According to a source at the palace, “The church that was attacked was behind the palace and we are still wondering how the gunmen carried out the attack in the city center. This is unbelievable. Kabiyesi will soon issue a statement on the incident.

Public Relations Officer Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, said the order had not yet determined the cause of the attack and the death toll.
