Kano Police patrol team has arrest 24-year-old lady over alleged ATM fraud,
24-year-old lady was allegedly defrauding people with their ATM cards.
Police Command in Kano; said in a statement.
SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa the command’s Spokesman, told newsmen on Monday in Kano that the suspect which is a lady and at age of 24years old ,had been on their wanted list over many fraud-related cases.
The lady was found in possession of multiple (18)ATM cards of different banks in Kano.
Mr Abdullah Haruna said, the lady was arrested by an ‘Operation Puff Adder’ team while on surveillance patrol on Murtala Mohammed Way in Kano state.
As she got arrested, Mrs victim told the media that the suspect approached him outside bank ATM tunal while seeking assistance to operate an ATM card at a bank.
“the lady mendacious collected my ATM card, and changed the card without my knowing then later withdrew a sum of N15,000 from my account,” he said.
The suspect who is in police custody through Investigation was found that she has ATM cards of almost every banks operating in Kano state, and this is making it easy for the suspect to swap her victims’ ATM cards and withdraw all money from their accounts ATM, he added.
The police spokesman said that the suspect would be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.
during the investigation by the Investigation team,the suspected lady confessed to the crime;Haruna-Kiyawa said
“the ladyconfessed the she specialis in swapping ATM cards at bank by claiming to be a bank staff and pretend offering to assist people to operate ATM machines.he said
Mr Abdullah Haruna urged residents in Kano to report such incidences to the nearest police station or an officer and to stop taking the laws into their hands.he said
Haruna Kiyawa assured that rigorous patrols as well as raids on criminal hideouts and black spots would continue across the state,he said.
