An Mpumalanga man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for stabbing his girlfriend after she and her brother were caught having sexual acts.
The murder know as Dube was convicted and sentenced this week, in the Mpumalanga High Court .
A man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after breaking into his girlfriend's house and killing her on her birthday, February 24 last year.
In an investigation, the court found that he stabbed his girlfriend several times after finding her with her brother.
The court said: "He stabbed the victim with a knife knowing that beating with a knife could have killed the victim. Despite this information, Mr Dube continued to beat him."
At the trial in April, Dube was the only witness to testify in his defense. His brother, Njabulo Shongwe, testified as a State witness.
In a statement to the court,
"he was jubilating on his birthday time at a bar near to them when he received a call from her brother," Dube added
Shongwe did not arrive when Dube decided to invite Shongwe to join him in a tavern,
Dube later went to his girlfriend's house and according to the decision, things changed when she heard voices in the house.

Dube knocked and did not answer.
So he became very angry and went into the house and found his brother walking with his girlfriend.
Dube said his girlfriend had a knife but took it from her.
When the girl apologized for having a brother, "he was angry, and I stabbed him several times,"
by decision, I had been drinking alcohol but not to the extent that I did not know what to do and could not do it properly. I also knew that if someone stabbed someone with a knife many times that person could be seriously injured or die from the injury ”.
When Shongwe testified he did not know the woman was Dube's girlfriend. he was with a woman in the house when he heard the neighbors' dogs barking and a few minutes later Dube entered the house.
Dube pulled a knife out of his pocket and stabbed the woman several times, Shongwe said
The High Court found that Dube had broken into the woman's house to injure her.
The court found:
Mr Dube deliberately killed, although the attack took place minutes after he broke into the house, evidence showed he was prepared to injure the deceased by beating him. The tragic beating of Mr Dube and other victims resulted in his death.

Sentenced on Wednesday, Dube was found guilty of burglary with intent to assault and murder. .
