Two SSS 3 students have been sentenced to seven years in prison for robbery
The judge, Justice Yetunde Adesanya, sentenced them to life in prison after pleading guilty in a court of law.
Mr Justice Tunde held that the arrest period starts from the day they were first detained on January 19, 2017, he said.
The two SSS3 students were initially jailed on January 19-2017, Lagos Magistrate's Court but were later charged and tried on June 27, 2018,
Justice Letunde Adesanya in several cases of conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery and extortion was preferred and did not consent.
December 4-2018 began the trial,
Lagos State Prosecution Attorney, Mrs. A. O. Oluwafemi, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, called three witnesses and issued tenders. But during the trial of Mr Anyanwu and Mr Chibike on February 4-2019, they continued the trial and the court dismissed the case.
Since the trial began on March 4-2022, the two detainees chose an admission of guilt agreement and were postponed to March 29-2022 by the presiding judge for sentencing.
The convicts were re-suspended on a premeditated theft charge before Mr Justice Adesanya yesterday reversed his plea.
He said, I have reviewed the negotiation agreement and the sentence, which was agreed upon and used appropriately between the parties. I am sure the terms of the agreement are correct.
The judge went on to say, "I condemn you, Udochukwu Anyanwu and Udo Chibike on a charge of theft and you are guilty of an offense," he said.
